I'm not sure if that is just his nature, if he was trying to keep my mind off the surgery, or a combination of the two. In any event, it proceeded as if I were in the company of a friend. Post-surgery, he was at the door when the attendant wheeled me out, inquired whether I needed him to run an errand (pharmacy, food, etc.), and escorted me to my door to ensure I was safely home.
